Embedding glass beads into highway safety markings creates reflective lines that shine through darkness, rain, and fog to direct drivers more safely along the road. Road Marking Beads Reflective are solid, spherical glass beads.for use with
road marking materials such as Road and Line Marking Paint， Water Based, Solvent
Based and Thermoplastic.
The response is provided by glass microspheres premixed and planted in the
material that composes all road marking (thermoplastics - acrylic paints - etc.)
that give the paint reflective properties, When a car's headline beam shines on
a striping which integrates glass beads, reflecting towards the driver the light
of the headlights of the vehicles.the striping seems to light up and gets much
better visible at night. This effect is called retro reflection.
To obtain maximum reflectivity of individual glass beads, ensure that 60% of the
bead is below surface of the thermoplastic road markings. If the glass beads are
not embedded deeply enough, the light goes through without being retro
reflected. On the other hand, if the glass beads are submerged, the light will
get trapped within.
In order to obtain the best reflection conditions，premixing (drop) beads
requires 15-20% of the total marking medium weight .When needs of drop-on,
demanded beads Shall be 25-30 grams per 15cm(W)x100cm(L) of marking line for an
optimum result. Normally 850-106 ㎛ of beads are used for roadmarking.
The microsphere can not only increase the visibility of markings at night, but
also enhance their durability.
These beads can also act as a protective coating of road markings, therefore
reduce their wear and tear against tires.
Using glass beads with your road markings is actually more expensive, so you may
be wondering why budget constraints would be an argument in favor of this
expense. It's because the beads lend not only retroreflectivity but also
durability to your road paint. They can make your paint last up to four times as
long, meaning that you'll save money on future re-striping.
